This is my first new post in quite a while. Things are great! The bunnies and the children are all growing like weeds. With Easter right around the corner, bunnies are everywhere! Good Luck to all of you (You know who you are!) and a special thank you to one person in particular. Your email didn’t come through, but please try again. We have fixed the problem, so it should work now!
More later!

I would be a bad mom if I didn’t mention my non-furry baby (and my full-grown non-furry “babies” as well). Steven was born on December 7, 2006. Having George definitely prepared his dad, Michael, for fatherhood (midnight feedings and mom worries). Steven is a great baby. He is cutting his first tooth and is very mobile. He is rolling everywhere and is just beginning to figure out how to get his knees up under himself. He says “Da-da” and his daddy is most proud! I am sure his Daddy will be posting about him from time to time on his own website The Caffeinated Duck. I have three other children: Wayne (18), Chris (15), and Stephanie (12). Updates and pictures of them as well as more of Steven soon.

My bunny Georgie needed a furry friend so my husband decided that we would buy a bunny for my bunny. We went to a pet store in Tallahassee and found four bunnies for sale. The two most promising (the ones which weren’t the traditional white with red eyes) were a black and white rex nicknamed MJ and a gray rex with no nickname. Given our limited selection we weren’t sure we were going to take a bunny home that day but MJ seemed determined. Since Georgie was so tiny still I was not sure I wanted as big a bunny as MJ so my husband decided to talk to the gray bunny. He leaned over her cage and told her she better make a move if she wanted to be the one going home with us. She didn’t even hesitate to jump up on her hiding box and get ready to go. While we were petting her we found that she had several bite marks but they didn’t seem to be infected so we decided it was a good thing we were taking her home with us. We named her Daisy and she is a great addition to our bunny family. She had her moments (being the big, lumbering bunny she is) but we love her and she is a definitely a delight.

I found some wonderful pictures taken by a German lady named Tanja Askani. Her photographs are amazing but they are copyrighted, so I figured I would post a link to her site and let you view the pictures for yourself if you are interested. She takes much more than wildlife photos so you may want to linger a bit. The site is in German but is pretty easy to navigate. These are wonderful for bunny lovers and are some of the best I have seen.

Georgie is the one who started it all! Georgie came to us as an orphan when he was only 10 days old. My son, Wayne, found him in a garbage corral and bought him home in a box. Wayne had already named him George (from the Bugs Bunny cartoon) and the name stuck. I had no idea what to do with a bunny, let alone one who was tiny. My husband was a great help and a huge supporter of my venture. We decided to try feeding him baby kitten formula and it worked wonderfully! We were both surprised at how he took to it and he made what my husband deemed “bunny eyes” when I fed him showing how much he enjoyed his formula. Every night I would wake up and check on him (several times most nights). I was hoping he would make it to the one week mark as that is a milestone…and he did and then some. We read that the average life expectancy in the wild is 1-4 years, so now my goal is 4 years! After the formula did its job and George was a little older we began to introduce vegetables and hay. We kept hearing and reading how people fed their rabbits pellets and they died, so we decided to stay clear of pellets for a while. George’s favorite all-time food is cilantro. He also enjoys kale, bok choy, and apple pieces. He is 7 months old now and doing great. More updates soon.
